August 2007 Newsletter

President’s Message: Justin Taptich

What a great summer!  As the summer winds down (or heats up) and many settle back into the school routine, I am very thankful to all that made this a fun summer.  The pool continues to look great, and the lifeguards and parents have kept everyone safe.

I have continued to evaluate options for updating/upgrading our facilities, and I have scheduled another meeting to share all of the information that I have gathered thus far.  The next meeting will be at the Dunwoody Library at 7pm on Thursday, September 14th.  I strongly urge people to make the time to attend, as this will affect the future of this club.

Again, I wanted to stress that my intent in evaluating potential facilities upgrades is two-fold:  (1) acting in the best long-term interest of the club (strategically and fiscally), and (2) continuing to be a good neighbor to those surrounding the WSTC property.  Also, many questions, concerns, and opinions will be expressed.  I welcome them all, and expect everyone to please be respectful of each other as we navigate this process.

Thanks again for a great summer!

Pool News: Lex Sheehan

Dekalb county inspectors visited our pool twice this season.  We received scores of 95 and 98 out of 100!  I want thank our life guards for doing a great job keeping out children safe, our pool clean and our scores high!

Note that any gathering of more than 25 people must be approved.  Please see Customer Pool Party Form at http://wynterhall.com/social.htm.  Adequate life guard coverage is essential for everyone’s safety.  Please plan appropriately.

Let’s continue to be considerate of our life guards by not lingering after the pool closes!  See pool hours at Wynterhall.com website.

I want to thank our WTSC members for leaving their tables clean – too bad for the ants!

Finally, our pool/playground area was treated for mosquitoes and ants the evening of August 9, 2007.  Looking forward to a bug free rest of the season!

Dive Team News: Susan Kee

Under the outstanding leadership of our coaches, Wynterhall divers finished the season with a winning record of 4-1.  It was a fun season with new club records being set by even our youngest divers!  We were well represented at the championship meet and finished third among the 12 teams competing.  Many thanks go out to not only our dedicated coaches, but to our tireless volunteers who helped make the season a success.  See you next summer!

Social News:  Mary Cozart & Polly Frederick

What a fantastic summer it has been!  The pool has been the perfect place to cool off and splash around.  Hopefully you have had a chance to enjoy getting together with friends and family as well as just taking it easy.

The WSTC social calendar has been eventful and we hope you were able to attend one or all of the summer parties! We had great turnouts for Memorial Day, WSTC Appreciation Cookout and the 4th of July BBQ with delicious food and fun entertainment.  Many thanks to the Dale Hall Band, John Willingham and our most recent entertainers, The 4th Alliance, for playing tunes that we can all enjoy.

Thank You
